The patch sheet

For every device on the diagram, a sheet that lists its sockets in the order of its back panel: inputs first, then outputs, each with the cable plugged into it and the device at the other end. Free sockets are counted, so you know before the show how many spare inputs the console still has.

Draw the diagram once

You pull a cable between two sockets, and that cable is a line in this document the same second. Rename a device, move a cable to another input, delete one: the document recomputes from the diagram. There is no second file to keep in step, and nothing to retype the night before the load-in.

Read in front of the rack

Each row says what the socket carries and what connector it takes, straight from the library entry of the device, and the notes typed on the device print at the top of its sheet. A device placed “× 18” has one sheet that stands for all eighteen.

The most connected device of the sound example

The sheet of “Rio3224-D2”, as the Patch tab shows it: 35 inputs and 26 outputs, connected or free.

DMX and CSV

A fixture that receives DMX takes two fields, its start address and its footprint; the universe is traced back up the cable from the desk that sends it. The DMX patch lists fixtures by universe then address and exports as its own CSV, next to the patch CSV of every device.

The tables on this page come from the “Concert Setup - Sample” example. The gallery shows the same document on every example project, and each one opens in the editor.
